Changes Afloat

Dear community,

I'm hoping that you're all staying nourished as you continue to show up for mutual aid, racial justice, truth-telling, compassion, and personal reflection.

I've been missing connecting with you all on a regular basis but know that there are many changes afloat. With that in mind, I'm continuing to adapt these offerings to nourish my own energy and yours.

I am now offering two regular, weekly classes and am starting a once a month friends and family class.

Let's talk about my weekly classes first: They're both on Wednesdays. The first is from 12-12:45pm EST, and the second from 7:30-8:30pm EST.

The 12pm class is my usual Vinyasa yoga asana and meditation class through Yoga Tribe Brooklyn. Please sign up via their website.

My Wednesday evening class is on a week-by-week basis, geared toward regular students. If you wanna get in on this offering, please let me know that you're interested and make sure that I have your number because I'll be texting you day-of to check in on availability. As long as there's one person who's down to join, I'll be teaching! The link to join will be shared day-of, directly from me to those who've confirmed attendance. This class is based off of Kundalini Yoga, and includes meditation too.

And what about that monthly class?

I'll be hosting a friends and family yoga class on the first Saturday of every month, starting August 1st at 4pm Eastern/1pm Pacific. You'll get a newsletter beforehand to remind you, and there will be a link to register in that email. Mark your calendar for Aug 1!

In the meantime, here are some other ways to connect with me:

Purchase Class Recordings!

  • I'm selling prior class recordings for $5 per class! There's restorative, kundalini, and flow yoga, plus meditation to choose from. You can watch the class as many times as you'd like, on your own time. You can purchase more than one, or get a different class each week for a varied practice! Order here.

  • I'm continuing to offer private yoga asana and meditation and mindfulness instruction. It's been so fun to do this digitally via FaceTime and have a more personalized way to work with people toward their goals. Fill out this form to get in touch.

Yoga is Dead merchandise

  • Some of you know and love Yoga is Dead podcast, a project by Tejal Patel and Jesal Parikh, two Indian-American yoga teachers addressing cultural appropriation, commodification and more in the yoga industry. I've been volunteering with them since last year, and starting next week I'll be helping them with shipping out merchandise. So if you want to support these amazing activists and leaders, purchase a tote bag, t-shirt, or stickers and I'll be the one who's writing the thank you note and shipping out your products with love :) Order here.

Sacred Aromatherapy

  • I've been working with Shadia Marji of Urban Well since last year. Shadia is a radical educator, social worker, trauma therapist, clinical aromatherapist, Reiki teacher, and holistic healing practitioner whose business supports people to connect to their inner healer through a variety of modalities. She recently launched an online shop for the highest grade medicinal aromatherapy essences. I've been doing back-end website design and administrative type stuff. Profits go toward supporting Shadia's community work in justice-informed healing for BIPOC organizers. Please check out the site and consider purchasing an oil for yourself, or buying a gift card for someone you love! You can also give us a follow on social media @sacred_aromatherapy

Donate to Third Root Community Health Center

  • I was working as an administrator at Third Root before COVID19 hit. Third Root is a multiracial, intergenerational worker-owned cooperative that offers accessible acupuncture, yoga, massage, and herbal education courses through an anti-oppression lens. They're currently offering all classes and workshops to Black folks for free, are ramping up their ASL and other language access, and providing herbal care kits to LGBTQ folks released from Rikers. Please join me in donating to their GoFundMe to help them sustain these free offerings while continuing to pay their workers. Thank you so much to those who've already donated!

That's it, folks. Thanks so much for all the love these past few months as we've navigated so much uncertain terrain together. I'll be continuing to send out these emails on a monthly basis before each friends and family class, so you'll still be hearing from me.

Please do reach out with any way I can support.

With love and solidarity, Alison
